Some information about the Wimborne Therapy Centre (WTC)

Practical information about the WTC

The Wimborne Therapy Centre opened in May 2008 with the aim of offering a safe and confidential space for therapists and patients / clients to meet. It is located at:

40A East Street
Wimborne
BH21 1DX
01202 888353

The entrance to the Centre is not signed so as to offer confidentiality to those using it. It consists of three consulting rooms which are suitable for seeing individuals or couples. One of the consulting rooms is suitable for group work or family therapy should a therapist need a room for this purpose. It is possible for two of the rooms to be set up for aromatherapists or massage therapists to use.

The predominant use of the rooms at present is for counselling / psychotherapy but the management are keen to hear from any therapist who may wish to have a safe space within which to practice. To see a list of therapists who work at the Centre and to find out a little bit about what they do please go to the page entitled, 'Therapists working at WTC'.

All therapists are asked to supply evidence of their qualifications, membership of any professional organisations and proof of their indemnity insurance in order to be able to book rooms. This is to ensure that each therapist has reached the required standard to practice within their particular field.

WTCs Reason for Being

Wimborne Therapy Centre was set up initally to offer affordable and flexible room hire to therapists who may be starting a practice in this area. Many other therapy centres or therapy rooms are offered for sessional rates only. Wimborne Therapy Centre allows therapists to book an hour or a week at a time. There is a scale of charges and therapists interested in renting a room are invited to visit the 'Information for Therapists' page for more information.

The East Dorset Counselling Service (EDCS)

Soon after opening the therapy centre it became apparent that there were some therapists who would happily donate a couple of hours a week of their clinical practice to work for a counselling service offering a reduced fee therapy service. So in November 2008 the East Dorset Counselling Service was established. More information about the EDCS can be found on the EDCS page of this web site. The EDCS offers therapy from £10.00 per session for people who are on a low income and cannot afford the full price of therapy.
